Under normal circumstances, no. As the building is multi-use and includes occupied office space, any rental inquiry during the week will be subject to review and approval by the tenant companies. The venue will be available Friday after 5pm, Saturday and Sunday. We will make exceptions for weekday rentals on a case-by-case basis.
You will have access to the space for a period of (8) hours on Friday or (10) hours on a weekend (Sat-Sun), which includes time for set-up, breakdown and clean-up. Access to the venue ends at 1am, at which time breakdown must be completed. Rental of the lounge, bar and patio include all furniture currently in the spaces.
All guests will enter the space through the gated patio on West 4th Street.
All furniture in the bar area, lounge and patio are included in the rental of the spaces. Should you wish to remove any furniture for your event, you will be required to pay an additional moving and storage fee. Any furniture and linens needed for the larger venue space must be rented through a third party. Please note the seated capacity of the space and reference the provided seating plans before placing a furniture order.
Yes, the space is an historic music venue with past performances by Morrissey, Ed Sheeran, Gavin DeGraw, Merle Haggard, Ziggy Marley, Arlo Guthrie, David Byrne, Liz Phair, Patti Smith, Nick Lowe, Gary Clark, Jr., Franz Ferdinand, Willie Nelson, David Alan Coe, Garbage, Sonic Youth, Spoon, Dr. John, Cyndi Lauper, Gregg Allman, The Black Eyed Peas, G. Love and Special Sauce, Townes Van Zandt, Lucinda Williams, Chris Cornell and way too many more to list. We are well-equipped to handle any size performances from acoustic to large touring bands. Please note that there is a noise ordinance in place downtown. The Noise Ordinance is found in Chapter 9-2 of the City of Austin Codes and Ordinances. In some cases, a live music permit is required. LZR does not provide any audio/visual equipment. A/V equipment should be rented directly from a third party vendor.
There is a loading area with a single garage door entrance on the Rio Grande side of the building. The city does not permit parking in this driveway but you are welcome to pull into the venue to load and unload equipment.
LZR's outdoor patio space has a built-in 12ft. x 12ft. reinforced steel stage perfect for small group or single performances. Our larger venue space has ample room for a stage which you are permitted to rent through a third party of your choice.
LZR does not provide event planning services. An LZR staff member will be assigned to your event as a point of contact and ensure that you or your event planner have met all requirements of the rental agreement. He/she will be on-site during your event to answer any venue-related questions, provide general assistance, and oversee the building and our staff. We recommend hiring an event planner for events with more than 75 guests.
LZR requires that you have an event coordinator with all events with more than 75 guests, and full service is recommended for all events.
Yes, however, any "flipping" of the space from ceremony to reception must be managed by your own event planner. LZR staff will not flip the venue.
We have a required vendor for bar service (Rio Management Group). Otherwise, we do not have a preferred or required vendor list. For tent rental, both Marquee Rents and Premiere Events are familiar with the specific needs of our outdoor patio space. However, you may rent a tent through any third party of your choice.
Visitors to our space at West 4th and Rio Grande may use metered street parking, the paid surface lot between LZR and Juan Pelota Cafe, or use the paid public garage parking in the in the immediate area. We suggest that you provide valet services, shuttles, or direct your guests to use rideshare services such as Uber, Lyft, or Ride Austin.
LZR's venue space is a blank canvas for your creativity and imagination. You may bring in your own decor, but the space must be returned to its original condition. Any decor that would permanently damage the condition of the building, including staples, glue, tape, confetti, and glitter are not permitted. Open flame (candles), sparklers are also not allowed on the property. Helium balloons may not be used in the large venue.
Yes, there is a "green room" with a full, private bathroom including a shower that is accessible from the venue.
Yes, you may tent the outdoor space. Both Marquee Rents and Premiere Events are familiar with the specific needs of our outdoor patio space. However, you may rent a tent through any third party of your choice.
Yes, there is wifi in the building. Event owners will be provided with passwords at the time of the event.
The is a large uni-sex bathroom with a shower located off the "green room" that is accessible through the venue. One Mens' (3 stalls, 2 urinals) and One Ladies' (5 stalls) room are accessible both from the Bar and the Venue.
Smoking is allowed on the outdoor patio only. All butts must be disposed of during breakdown and cleanup following the event. There is a charge of $50 per butt left on the property.
There is no secure coat check room, but you may supply hanging clothing racks and locate them in the venue as you wish.
Food and Beverage
LZR requires that an off-site catering agreement be signed. There is no kitchen at LZR and all food prep and staging should be done inside the loading area on Rio Grande Street.
All beverage service at LZR must be exclusively provided through our in-house bar program, Rio Management Group. You may work with them directly to coordinate the purchase and service of alcohol at your event. If you are renting the Lounge/Bar space, you will have full access to the large 3-sided bar which includes use of (4) keg taps.
Committing to the Space
Yes, we would be happy to show you around our venue! Please complete the form on this site, and our event staff with contact you to arrange a scheduled visit.
LZR will review your application for rent. On acceptance, you will be provided a rental agreement. The space rental is reserved only once you have both signed the rental agreement, paid the Refundable Damage/Additional Costs Deposit, and submitted the first of three equal installments covering the cost of the space rental. We will not hold dates unless these three conditions have been met.
We accept cashiers checks, personal checks, and cash.
The Refundable Damage Deposit covers the cost of repair or loss of value from any damages caused by Client, Client's agents, or Client's invitees and the cost of janitorial services, security services, or utility services.
Yes, we do require a Certificate of Insurance for all events. We include this information with your contract upon booking.
You may provide a written cancellation at any time prior to the Event Date. This action will forfeit all payments made to Company, including the Refundable Damage Deposit, and any payments still due as of the day of cancellation must be paid immediately.
